There’s a lovely photo spread in the Chinese version of Cosmopolitan magazine on the wedding of China’s men’s all-around Olympic gold medalist Yang Wei and Yang Yun, who won a bronze medal for China at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney.

Apparently Yang Wei needed the permission of his coach to get married, and he received that after winning the gold.

You may remember Yang Yun’s name. She was the gymnast who did a television documentary on state-run Chinese television and said she was 14 at those Sydney Olympics. She would have needed to be turning 16 in 2000 to have been eligible. So whether she is a 22-year-old bride or a 24-year-old bride, we’re not sure. And that’s an age controversy even the Federation of International Gymnastics is still investigating.
