What off-season? The day after the World Series marks the first day that players can file for free agency, and 65 did just that today.

Players have 15 days to file for free agency, but they cannot sign with a new team until that 15-day period expires. There is no inherent advantage in filing on the first day.

The Dodgers filing today: Manny Ramirez, Derek Lowe, Casey Blake, Greg Maddux and Joe Beimel.

The Angels filing today: Mark Teixeira, Garret Anderson and Jon Garland.

Other notables: pitchers Ryan Dempster and Ben Sheets, catcher Jason Varitek and outfielders Bobby Abreu, Milton Bradley and Raul Ibanez.
