Kings’ backup goaltender Erik Ersberg, who looks disturbingly like a young Christopher Walken, draws a bead on the Ducks at Staples Center tonight, hardly a gentle assignment for his first start of the season.

‘Obviously, when you’re playing a top team, you end up concentrating much more,’ Ersberg said.

‘You go about playing the game, but it’s there in your subconscious all the time. I know I’m going to see a lot of shots. That’s good. It gets you into the game.’

As far as the Walken similarities go, the Kings hope Ersberg is more ‘Man on Fire’ than ‘The Dead Zone.’ Now, a Dead Duck Zone, that would probably be acceptable to Coach Terry Murray.

‘He’s excited about it and the challenge is a good one for him,’ Murray said. ‘We’re looking for him to be confident. He’s going to be called on to make a couple good stops. Good teams, they always generate good offense.’
