Dodgers General Manager Ned Colletti must be enormously jealous of Raiders owner Al Davis.

Really.

Just think how much more pleasant life for Colletti and the Dodgers would be if they could rid themselves of Andruw Jones as easily as Davis and the Raiders jettisoned DeAngelo Hall.

The Raiders saved millions by waiving Hall on Wednesday, eight games into what was a seven-year, $70-million deal.

Unlike football, however, the vast majority of baseball contracts are guaranteed, meaning the Dodgers would have been out $36.2 million had they cut Jones. All the Raiders owed Hall was his $7-million signing bonus and $1-million base salary for this season.

Jones was a huge bust. He batted .158 with three home runs, then underwent knee surgery that ended his season. Hall was just as disappointing -- getting beat on 40 of the 66 passes thrown his way for 552 yards.

In football there’s a quicker end to the misery. Then again, we are talking about the Raiders, so maybe not.
