The new kids on the block (of ice) were put to work immediately for the Ducks on Sunday night.

Defenseman Brett Festerling and forward Bobby Ryan called up after defenseman Francois Beauchemin suffered a season-ending knee injury. The two were just off the plane from minor league Des Moines and were handed key roles against the Kings on Sunday.

Festerling was paired with Scott Niedermayer, as well as being used extensively on the penalty kill. Ryan was put on the team’s top line with Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry.

Ryan had a perfect view the game’s only goal. He was battling at the crease when Perry corralled a rebound and flicked the puck into the net at 11 minutes 36 seconds into the second period.
