Roger Goodell, commissioner of the NFL, is aware that some of you aren’t happy that the NFL Network isn’t available on every cable system and that not everyone can watch the NFL Network on Thursday night football games.

How does he know that?

Some of you call. Goodell was at the NFL Network offices in Culver City on Tuesday. Along with talking about cutting down on the scalping of Super Bowl tickets and what is, or isn’t, happening about the NFL ever having a team in Los Angeles, Goodell acknowledged some NFL fans aren’t thrilled about the power struggle among several major cable television franchises and the NFL and its network.

‘I get calls from fans who ask me why they aren’t getting the games,’ Goodell said. He insisted random fans found his telephone number and called on random Thursdays asking why they weren’t able to watch the games. And why can’t they? It’s all about the deals. Goodell wants his network available on basic cable plans. Some cable companies want the network put on higher-priced sports tiers. In other words, it’s about the money. But if you aren’t getting NFL Network and can find Goodell’s phone number, he’ll take the call.
