Winky Wright, who hasn’t fought since losing to Bernard Hopkins in July 2007, will have his return to the ring delayed even longer after suffering an injury to his left hand while sparring, Golden Boy Promotions said Tuesday.

Former junior middleweight world champion Wright, who had been scheduled to fight Michi Munoz on Dec. 4 at a casino in Washington state, issued a statement through his promoter saying that he is ‘very disappointed’ because he was feeling ‘real sharp’ in camp.

The Golden Boy statement said the entire card was scrapped, and that Wright will return to the ring sometime in early 2009.
