K-Rod sighting in Las Vegas -- an update

LAS VEGAS -- Francisco Rodriguez, who set a major league record with 62 saves for the Angels last season, left the Bellagio today with at least one firm offer, and the right-hander said he plans to remain in town until Wednesday, but he does not appear to have meetings set up with any more teams.

‘We’re open to any discussions,’ Rodriguez said. ‘We’re open to anyone who wants to talk to us.’

The New York Mets, who met with Rodriguez Sunday night, have reportedly offered the 26-year-old a two-year deal in the $24-million range, far less than the three-year, $34-million offer Rodriguez rejected from the Angels last November. The Mets are believed to be willing to add a third year to the deal, or at least an option year.

‘I don’t want to say much about it,’ Rodriguez said, when asked how he felt about the Mets offer. ‘But it’s going well with them. Everything is going OK, so we’ll see what’s going to happen.’
