After trailing for the entire second and third quarters, the Lakers pulled ahead for good in the last minute of tonight’s game at Staples Center when forward Lamar Odom set up Trevor Ariza for an alley-oop, making the score 113-112.

The crowd then got to its feet and alternated from jeers to cheers as the big screen switched multiple times from Spike Lee in an orange Knicks jersey to Jack Nicholson grinning behind sunglasses from his courtside seat.

Fouled in the last seven seconds, Derek Fisher made both of his free throws, but they were answered when Nate Robinson of the Knicks was also sent to the line.

After a 20-second timeout, Robinson fouled Fisher, who made one of two free throws with less than three seconds on the clock. When the buzzer sounded, Lakers fans screamed as purple and gold streamers fell from the rafters and the final score read 116-114.

Kobe Bryant finished with 28 points, seven rebounds and six assists. Odom was the second-leading Lakers scorer with 17 points; he also had 12 rebounds and four assists.

The Knicks’ Robinson finished with a game-high 33 points, while Chris Duhon had a double-double with 12 points and 11 assists.
