Spring training bound? A first report from Arizona

I visited the Phoenix area this week, touring the Dodgers’ new spring training park, Camelback Ranch.

I checked out the area’s hotels and have some early advice for baseball fans: Start planning now.

There aren’t that many hotels near the park and the decent ones already are filling up on some dates. Here’s my early preview of nine places to stay, at varying prices, on the Los Angeles Times’ Travel blog.
