It’s not clear what the good folk at Pebble Beach would do if soccer star Brandi Chastain shot a hole in one and celebrated by stripping down to her sports bra, as she did so famously when she and the rest of the U.S. team won the Women’s World Cup at the Rose Bowl in 1999.

But Pebble Beach had best be prepared.

Chastain, 40, will be one of the golfers teeing up at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am next month and, knowing Chastain, anything could happen. She plays twice a week as a member at the San Jose Country Club and admits to a 14 handicap, so she is not exactly a novice.

Nor is Chastain unnerved by crowds, although the fans themselves might want to pay close attention.

‘People lining up along the ropes is the scariest thing,’ Chastain told the San Francisco Chronicle. ‘I have a good voice, so I can yell ‘Fore!’ very loud.’

The two-time world champion and Olympic gold medal winner will be playing for the Bay Area-based FC Gold Pride when Women’s Professional Soccer launches in March.
