Bob Arum is going to Manila to see Manny Pacquiao; Richard Schaefer calls out Pacquiao for ‘disrespect’

In a lunch with The Times and others at L.A. Live’s restaurant, The Barn, Arum was involved in a flurry of cell phone calls, making travel arrangements to Manila and talking to Pacquiao representatives in the Philippines ensuring he was positioned to finally have the boxer sign a contract to get the fight made.
In accompanying videos, Arum (top video) provides the latest news on the fight, while Hatton’s promoter Richard Schaefer explains in an impromptu news conference with three reporters why unless he gets a signed contract faxed to his Los Angeles office, he’s skeptical that Pacquiao will indeed agree to the bout.
Since Hatton called the fight off only a day ago, Schaefer agreed there is still time to get a deal done.
Arum is optimistic. He told The Times Bill Dwyre earlier today that the flight across the ocean was necessary to show Pacquiao the respect he deserves. He told Filipino representatives to organize press conferences for Pacquiao to announce the fight on Wednesday -- the first in Manila, the second in Sebu.
