Manny Ramirez remains unsigned, spring training starts in 19 days, and the Dodgers are about to launch their annual publicity caravan.

Manager Joe Torre is about to launch a publicity caravan of his own, one that has nothing to do with his employer and everything to do with selling books. He is scheduled to make at least three appearances in the New York area to promote his new book, ‘The Yankee Years,’ in which he criticizes Alex Rodriguez and Yankees General Manager Brian Cashman, among others.

Torre also will appear on CNN’s ‘Larry King Live’ on Friday.

The Dodgers don’t have Manny, at least not yet. They don’t have a fourth or fifth starter. On the eve of spring training, however, Torre will spend more time talking about the team that does not employ him rather than the team that does, at more than $4 million a year.

Complete list of Dodgers players under contract for more than $4 million this year: Jason Schmidt, Juan Pierre, Hiroki Kuroda, Rafael Furcal, Casey Blake.
