Shortly before his team took the court against Washington State in the quarterfinals of the Pac-10 tournament at Staples Center, senior point guard Darren Collison was named to the official ballot for the Wooden Award player of the year and All-American team.

Among the 24 players under consideration for the Wooden team and award are James Harden of Arizona State, Stephen Curry of Davidson and North Carolina’s Tyler Hansbrough, last year’s winner.

Oklahoma’s Blake Griffin is thought to be the favorite for player of the year.

Voters will cast their ballots during the NCAA tournament.
