Reporting from Philadelphia -- Connecticut Coach Jim Calhoun wasn’t needed, but he was missed during Huskies’ annihilation of UT-Chatanooga.

The UConn coach was admitted to a local hospital on Thursday afternoon and did not make it to the Wachovia Center. ‘I have been feeling lousy for the past several days,’ Calhoun said in a written statement. Associate head coach George Blaney ran the team in the first round of the NCAA tournament.

School officials sounded optimistic about Calhoun’s return for Saturday’s game against Texas A&M, but were not specific about any medical diagnosis. ESPN is reporting that he ‘was treated for dehydration and received IV fluids.’ It has additional information about his medical history on its site.

After the game, Blaney said that Calhoun asked for stats. What he saw was an impressive performance for his No 1.-seeded Huskies. Their 103-47 victory was the third-largest margin of victory in NCAA tournament history. The top five:

All of these blowouts were in the first round of the tournament, except for the UCLA victory -- which was in the regional semifinal. An impressive performance for any game, it’s difficult to imagine that score in the Sweet Sixteen.
