Did you notice that Derek Lowe pitched eight scoreless innings for the Atlanta Braves in the season opener Sunday night, a 4-1 victory over Philadelphia?

“He was awesome,” Braves Manager Bobby Cox said of Lowe, a veteran sinkerballer who threw 66 strikes in 97 pitches, including 14 pitches over his last two innings. “He had three-up, three-down in six innings and gave up two ground-ball hits.’
