It’s been a constant refrain in October: World Series games start so late that a kid cannot stay up to watch them. On the East Coast, a kid might not even be able to stay up for the start of the game.

So Fox and Major League Baseball have announced a change: World Series games now will start at 4:57 p.m. Pacific time. That’s great if you live on the East Coast, not so great if you live in Southern California, but a decent compromise nonetheless.

The Dodgers awoke this morning with the best record in the major leagues. The Dodgers haven’t appeared in the World Series since 1988, but the Fox Sports story announcing the changes includes a photograph of a late-afternoon game at Dodger Stadium, with palm trees at twilight.
