Oxnard’s hard-hitting Victor Ortiz will headline a June 27 boxing card at Staples Center, officials announced today.

Ortiz (24-1-1, 19 KOs) will battle Argentina’s Marcos Rene Maidana (25-1, 24 KOs) for the World Boxing Assn. junior-welterweight interim title.

The subject of a recent legal tug-of-war between his former promoter Top Rank and Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions, Ortiz has won each of his last five fights by knockout or TKO in five rounds or less. Golden Boy will promote this card, which also includes a rematch between former Olympian Rocky Juarez and Chris John.

In February, Juarez (28-4-1) and John (42-0-2) fought to a draw in Houston for the WBA featherweight title. John boasts a 2006 unanimous decision victory over Mexico’s Juan Manuel Marquez.

Presale tickets are now available. Contact Staples Center about other ticket information.
