Rob Rasmussen, a junior left-hander from UCLA, has been selected to start on the mound in the Cape Cod League all-star game on July 23 at Fenway Park, according to the school.

Rasmussen has struck out 26 batters and walked three in 18 2/3 innings this summer. The league uses wood bats and is recognized as one of the best for college baseball players.

With Rasmussen having a strong summer, UCLA could have a formidable starting rotation next spring, considering two sophomore pitchers, Gerrit Cole and Trevor Bauer, are pitching this summer for the U.S. national team.
