A 19-point, third-quarter Lakers lead was sliced to two points late in the fourth quarter before they escaped with a 91-87 victory over the Charlotte Bobcats on Saturday night in an exhibition game at Staples Center.

The Lakers will play the Clippers on Sunday in another exhibition game, while the Bobcats will play the Utah Jazz.

Andrew Bynum and Josh Powell led the Lakers with 15 points each.

The Lakers had hoped to get Ron Artest more involved in the offense.But it didn’t happen.

Artest had only five points before fouling out in the fourth quarter.

He played 18 minutes and was two for five from the field. He missed all five of his free-throw attempts.
