The grounds crew at Citizens Bank Park began rolling up the white tarp at 8:48 EDT, nearly an hour after Game 3 of the World Series was scheduled to start. A steady rain was still falling as the soaked field was being readied for play, though the storm was much weaker than it had been even 10 minutes earlier.

The new start time is now 9:15 EDT.

As the tarp was being rolled up, Yankees catcher Jorge Posada made his way out to the bullpen to warm up starter Andy Pettitte while Phillies starter Cole Hamels stretched on the outfield grass.

Last year the third game of the World Series, which was also in Philadelphia, was delayed nearly two hours by rain, eventually starting at 10:06 EDT. This year baseball officials tried to wait out the rain, Fox aired an episode of its animated ‘Family Guy’ spinoff ‘The Cleveland Show’ instead of the World Series.
