With less than half an hour to go before the scheduled first pitch of tonight’s World Series game in Philadelphia, the grounds crew raced onto the field at Citizens Bank Park and unrolled the protective tarp.

There was a 70% chance of showers for the start of tonight’s Game 3. But that increased to 100% shortly after 7 p.m. EDT. The rain, which Major League Baseball officials said they hoped would hold off until 11 or so tonight, is growing heavier by the minute.
