Kings-Predators: Kings trail, 1-0, after second period

The Kings entered the second period with a 54-second 5-on-3 power play. No goal.

Kings winger Wayne Simmonds made a behind-the-back pass to Scott Parse at 2:49, but he was stopped at the doorstep by goalie Dan Ellis. No goal.

Nashville had a power play after Simmonds was assessed a slashing penalty at 5:26. No goal.

The Predators had another power play opportunity at 16:04 after winger Raitis Ivanans was called for hooking. Goal at 16:38 from defenseman Francis Bouillon, who rebounded a Cody Franson shot that bounced off the boards and slapped the puck on the left side of the net.

The Kings finished two periods of play with 13 shots, were outshot in the second period 10-5 and had a zero-of-two effort on power plays. The Predators finished with 16 shots and were one-of-three on the power play.

The Kings are used to trailing after two periods. This is the seventh time they have done so, and they have only rallied from those deficits in the last two games. We’ll soon find out if the Kings can keep the streak going.
