A Bruins basketball team that looked rattled against Concordia last week came out calmer -- and with a fuller roster -- taking a 41-34 halftime lead against Humboldt State in an exhibition at Pauley Pavilion tonight.

The presence of point guard Jerime Anderson and senior guard Michael Roll, both of whom missed last week’s game, had a noticeable effect, as did the fact that the visiting Lumberjacks did not seem as quick or confident as Concordia.

Midway through the first half, the Bruins began to pull away.

Malcolm Lee dunked, Roll hit a jump shot, Nikola Dragovic sank a three-pointer and -- just that quickly -- the lead was 10.

Play turned a little ragged in the final minutes of the half, allowing Humboldt State to scramble back.

But Roll hit a jump shot and Anderson drove the lane, flicking in a right-handed shot, to keep UCLA with a seven-point cushion.

Brian Morris had 14 points for Humboldt State.
