Sean O’Donnell’s low shot from the left point snaked past Oilers goaltender Jeff Deslauriers with 4:33 left in the third period to give the battered Kings a 3-2 victory at Edmonton’s Rexall Place.

O’Donnell’s goal, set up by Alexander Frolov and Justin Williams, was his first in 158 games--since Dec. 22, 2007. It was a huge feat for the Kings, who played the third period without defenseman Jack Johnson and started the game without Ryan Smyth, Jarret Stoll and Wayne Simmonds. Johnson was struck on the foot by a shot in the first period and appeared to be in pain; he played a few shifts in the second period but didn’t play in the third.

A club spokesman said Johnson has a lower-body injury.

The Oilers had pulled even a t3:43 of the third on a goal by Ryan Potulny.
