Sites were broken into two categories, more than 1 million monthly unique visitors and less than 1 million.

The Times is in the large category. A top 10 and 10 honorable mentions were selected in each division.

The Press-Enterprise of Riverside was top 10 in the less-than-1-million group.

APSE conducts an annual contest to judge the best writing and best sections in the country.

Plans are to expand the website competition in subsequent contests.
