Ryan Dungey, the leader in the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series standings, was the top qualifier for his heat race at Angel Stadium.

Josh Hill, a rider from Murrieta, was the top qualifier for the other heat race. Hill is the teammate of James Stewart, the reigning series champion. Stewart will start second in the heat race with Hill.

Stewart reportedly spent the week in Florida recovering from injuries he sustained after a pair of crashes last weekend at Chase Field in Phoenix. Some are questioning the severity of his injuries because of how well he qualified.

Ryan Villopoto, who is in second place in the Supercross standings, will start fifth in the heat race with Dungey and Brayton.
