USC defensive back Marshall Jones and defensive lineman Hebron Fangupo each have been granted an extra year of eligibility because of medical hardship, the school announced.

Both players suffered season-ending injuries in the third game against Washington State last season. Jones suffered a neck injury, Fangupo a broken leg.

USC petitioned the Pacific 10 Conference on the players’ behalf. Both will be fourth-year juniors this season.

The Trojans begin spring practice under new Coach Lane Kiffin on March 30.
