Freshman Cody Keefer had five runs batted in and senior Blair Dunlap contributed four of his team’s 15 hits to help UCLA improve to 18-0 on Thursday night with an 11-7 victory over Cal Poly San Luis Obispo at Jackie Robinson Stadium.

The Bruins opened an 11-0 lead, then had to deal with what has been a rare occurrence this season -- a dose of adversity. Starting pitcher Gerrit Cole (6-0) encountered control problems. He walked five batters in the fifth inning when Cal Poly (7-12) scored three runs. Cole left the game after walking seven and striking out seven in five innings.

Cal Poly added four runs in the seventh, but UCLA relievers Erik Goeddel and Dan Klein shut down the Mustangs after that.
