Jason Bowles, a driver from Ontario, probably wasn’t going to catch Andrew Ranger in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West race today at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma.

He was running in second place and was low on fuel as the cars made their way around the 1.99-mile road course on the white flag lap. Bowles was looking to win his third West Series race in a row at Infineon Raceway.

Instead, he ran out of fuel about 100 feet from the finish line and watched as a parade of cars passed him. Bowles was credited with a 22nd-place finish as he helplessly watched car after car cross the finish line.

For Ranger, a two-time NASCAR Canadian Tire Series champion, it was the first West Series win of his career.

Paulie Harraka finished second, his best finish since winning the West Series season opener at All America Speedway in Roseville, Calif., in March.

Eric Holmes took over the lead in the West Series standings with a fourth-place finish at Sonoma.
