Former Oaks Christian standout Jimmy Clausen has been named the starting quarterback for the Carolina Panthers’ game Sunday against Cincinnati, Coach John Fox said Monday.

Clausen, who played college football at Notre Dame and was selected in the second round (48th overall) in this year’s NFL draft, will replace the struggling Matt Moore, who has thrown two touchdowns and four interceptions and lost two fumbles during the Panthers’ 0-2 start to the season.

In two brief appearances this season, Clausen has completed seven of 15 passes for 59 yards with one interception.
