New York Mets reliever Francisco Rodriguez was freed on $7,500 bail Wednesday after he was arrested for allegeldy violating a restraining order by sending dozens of text messages to his common-law wife, a Queens district attorney spokesperson said.

Rodriguez did not enter a plea at the arraignment, the spokesperson said.

The restraining order was issued after the former Angels star was arrested for allegedly assaulting his father-in-law after a Mets home loss in August. He started sending the text messages to Daian Pena after the arrest, prosecuters said.
