UCLA football: Assistant coaches Chuck Bullough, Reggie Moore fired

UCLA defensive coordinator Chuck Bullough and wide receiver coach Reggie Moore were fired Saturday morning, according to a source in the program who was not authorized to speak on the subject.
It is the first response to a disappointing 4-8 season, but likely not the last. Coach Rick Neuheisel could not be reached for comment.
Players were expecting the news, though some were attaching the blame for the woeful season on themselves.
“It was on us players, not the coaches,” linebacker Akeem Ayers said this week. “It was up to us to execute.”
Bullough, 42, has been at UCLA for five seasons, starting as the linebacker coach. He was promoted to defensive coordinator in 2009 after DeWayne Walker was hired as New Mexico State’s head coach. The Bruins’ defense, overloaded with injuries and inexperience, struggled this last season, allowing 30.3 points per game. It was the third highest total for UCLA since 1921.
Bullough has one year left on his contract at $325,000.
Moore, 42, spent the last three seasons as the Bruins’ wide receiver coach. UCLA finished 116 out of 120 Football Bowl Division teams in passing offense in 2010. Moore’s contract, believed to about $180,000, expires in June.
