Twitter might be flying out of its San Francisco nest and heading south.
A 200,000-square-foot complex down the peninsula in Brisbane, Calif., that currently houses Walmart.com is among the possible locations for a new Twitter headquarters, according to the San Francisco Business Times.
Wal-Mart Stores Inc. is moving its website staff to San Bruno later this year, freeing the Brisbane complex for new occupants, and the social media site is interested, the Business Times said.
As a plus, there is land available nearby where Twitter could build additional quarters if needed, the publication said.
Other locations outside San Francisco are under consideration, too, the publication said, adding that if Twitter moved it could be a big blow to the Bay Area tech scene, where some start-ups choose to locate just to be near larger companies.
