What’s the best way to get an invite to try out Google+? Check its website regularly.

Google Inc. has begun letting more users check out its newest project -- but it’s been sporadic. Google is letting current Google+ users send out invites at unspecified times as well as letting people simply sign on to the service if they check the website at the right moment.

The random intervals began Wednesday night, and access to the social network could become available at any time, said a Google spokesperson.

“Things are going well with the systems right now so we feel comfortable enough to open up invites for a brief period,” David Besbris, an engineering director of Google+, said in a post. “Our goal is to double the user base in the field trial.”

Though Google hasn’t specified the number of users on the social network, at least tens of thousands of people appear to be using the service, among them companies that are looking to establish their presence on Google+ early on, based off Google+ Statistics.
