Sierra had been Gonzalez’s boyfriend for seven years, but she had left him about a month ago and he had been stalking her, police said. That day, he came to the house, killed her, then turned the gun on himself, police said. Gonzalez’s five children from a previous marriage, ages 11 to 15, were in the house at the time of the killing. They survived.
