Robert Baker, 47, a black man, apparently was assaulted by another inmate at Lancaster State Prison on Monday, March 26, and died at 12:05 p.m. Tuesday, March 27. Authorities said Baker was involved in a fight in his cell and was taken to Holy Cross hospital, where he died. Medical examiners said he appeared to have been struck in the head. The suspect, his cell mate, also a black man in his late 40s, had a bloody nose. The suspect had been serving a 14-year term for assault on a spouse. Baker had been imprisoned for burglary.
