Damont Johnson, 34, a black man, was shot multiple times at 10203 Budlong Ave. in Athens and died at 12:31 a.m. April 9. Investigators described the killing as an argument homicide, and said the suspect and victim were acquainted. The man’s friends from the neighborhood described him as outgoing and happy. ‘He was loved,’ one said. Family members contacted the Homicide Report to say that he was the father of a 9-year-old boy and a 6-year-old girl. ‘So many people getting killed down here in the ghetto, and no one even knows about it. Nobody cares,’ a friend said. (Above, his shrine, with Easter flowers.)

Update: Sheriff’s homicide detectives have cleared this case. They arrested a man within a day or two of the murder.
