Luis Romo, a Latino young man, was shot in an alley at 2416 Boulder St. in Boyle Heights and died at 1:33 a.m. Sunday, April 1. Romo was walking in the alley, just off Soto Street, when he was attacked, and a bullet plunged clear through several vital organs.

Mortally wounded, he was still able to run some distance and jump a 3 1/2-foot chain-link fence into a nearby yard in an effort to save himself. He collapsed on the other side of the fence. Hollenbeck Det. Marc Phillips is looking for tips--including anonymous tips--to find Romo’s killer and take him into custody. Phillips’ number is (323) 526-3680.
