Edgar Madrigal, a 23-year-old Latino, was hit multiple times by gunfire at 3919 N. Figueroa St. in Glassell Park and died at 1:35 a.m. Sunday, July 8, about 15 minutes after he was shot.

He was standing in a front yard in near pitch darkness, and someone walked up to him on the sidewalk and fired several rounds into his body. He was outside because he and friends had been having beer pizza together on the porch, and he was mistaken for someone’s gang rival. He wasn’t. Madrigal was a construction worker with no criminal history, said Det. James Yamada of LAPD Northeast station. He asks anyone with information to call him at (213) 847-4261.
