Herber Paredes, 41, a Latino man, was shot multiple times at 1077 S. Norton Avenue in the Mid-City area at about 8 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 18 and lingered two days at California Hospital before dying at 11:47 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 20.

Police have him listed by a different first name: ‘Antonio.’ (See, ‘Dispatch: Bungled Names, Mingled Ashes.’)

Paredes was a construction worker with no tattoos and no rap sheet. He was standing with a friend when the killers drove by in a car and fired at them. Possibly, it was a case of ‘wrong place, wrong time,’ said LAPD Wilshire Division Det. Kurt Wong. He and partner Det. Ted Urena seek tips. Call (213) 473-0446.
