Donald Reed, 27, a white man, was shot to death at about 2:15 p.m. near 70th Street and Georgia Avenue in Paramount on Tuesday, Oct. 2. According to Sheriff’s Lt. Larry Lincoln, Reed and a companion, also a white man, were in the neighborhood trying to sell stereo equipment from a van. Two men, one black and one Latino, shot and killed Reed in the course of trying to rob him. The suspects escaped in a blue Nissan. Reed’s time of death was listed as 2:45 p.m.

Reed was from Orange County. Sheriff’s investigators at first assumed he and his companion were trying to fence stolen goods, but they weren’t, Lincoln said. Their stereo equipment had been acquired legally.
