Edwin Dewitt Holman, 46, a black man, was shot in an alley near South Street and Locust Avenue about 8:30 p.m. Thursday, July 17.

According to a Long Beach Police statement, officers responded to a call of shots-fired. Officers searched the area and found Holman in an alley with gunshot wound. Holman was taken by ambulance to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
