William Kaddis, 64, a Middle Eastern man, was shot and killed during a family dispute in the 1000 block of South Crenshaw Boulevard in the Country Club Park section of L.A. The shooting occurred about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 16, authorities said.

According to a statement by the Los Angeles Police Department, Kaddis was shot through a metal screen door during an argument with his brother Edward Kaddis, 61, also Middle Eastern. Police did not say what the brothers had been arguing about. Officers who responded to a report of shots fired found William Kaddis on the ground with a gunshot wound to the head. He was taken by ambulance to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His brother, police said in the statement, barricaded himself in the house. A SWAT unit was called in, and after hours of negotiating, Kaddis surrendered. He was booked on suspicion of murder, the statement said. More soon.
