San Pedro: Man, 25, is shot in parking lot

Francisco Esparza, a 25-year-old Latino, was shot to death in the parking lot of a San Pedro bar in the 2440 block of South Western Avenue about 2:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 13.

Authorities said he was in the parking lot when a fight erupted and shot by a man in a vehicle.

Kai J. Lozano, a 26-year-old Latino, was arrested Sept. 15 and subsequently charged with Esparza’s murder. Lozano was being held in lieu of $1-million bail, pending an Oct. 10 arraignment at the Long Beach courthouse.
