Long Beach: Man, 46, killed in hospital shooting

Hugo Bustamante, a 46-year-old Latino, died when he was shot while working at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center on Thursday, April 16, 2009, in Long Beach, according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.

Bustamante was a supervisor at the hospital pharmacy. He and his colleague Kelly Hales, 56, were shot and killed by coworker Mario Ramirez, 50, police said.

Witnesses said Ramirez shot his two supervisors, then turned the gun on himself. He also died. Police have no motive for the shooting.
