Ricardo Chavez, a 19-year-old Latino, was shot several times in the 15100 block of Gundry Avenue in Paramount on Sunday, May 31, according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.
Chavez was standing on the sidewalk when two black men approached him, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. The two men and Chavez reportedly exchanged words; the men then shot him and fled north on Gundry Avenue, according to the Sheriff’s Department.
Chavez was taken to a hospital by family members, where he died.
