Sonny Garcia, a 20-year-old Latino, was shot in the chest and died June 18. He was shot in the 4900 block of Elrovia Avenue in El Monte at 1:01 a.m. and pronounced dead at the hospital at 3:42 a.m., according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.
Craig Harvey, chief coroner investigator and chief of operations for the coroner’s office, said Garcia was attending a graduation party when an uninvited guest arrived and a fight broke out.
Garcia was shot in the frontyard of the home during the fight, Harvey said. The shooter fled the location.
