Tommy Jackson, a 58-year-old black man, died on Thursday, Oct. 15, a day after he was stabbed in the 800 block of East 7th Street in downtown, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s officials.

Jackson was fatally wounded after a verbal dispute at a downtown Los Angeles hotel, police said. He and another 58-year-old man began yelling at each other about 8:55 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, at the hotel said Officer Cleon Joseph, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Police Department.

Jackson was stabbed with two knives, Joseph said. He was taken to a hospital, where he later died. Officers arrested the suspect at the scene, Joseph said. It was unclear what the relationship was between the men or whether they were guests of the hotel, he said.
