Florence: Julian Nolasco, 25

Julian Nolasco, a 25-year-old Latino, was shot by Los Angeles police Tuesday, Nov. 3, at 59th Street and Avalon Boulevard in Florence and died the next day, authorities said.

According to LAPD Sgt. Frank Banuelos, Nolasco took a car at gunpoint and was being pursued by police when he stopped at the intersection.

Police said Nolasco jumped out of the car and fired at officers. Police officers, who were not injured in the exchange, returned fire and hit Nolasco, authorities said.

He died shortly before 7 a.m. the next day, according to coroner’s records.
